Sennacherib
Sennacherib was a king of the Neo-Assyrian Empire who reigned from 705 BCE to 681 BCE. He is known for his military campaigns and conquests, as well as his construction projects, including the famous palace at Nineveh.
In the Hebrew Bible, Sennacherib is mentioned in several books, including 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles, and the book of Isaiah. He is primarily remembered for his siege of Jerusalem in 701 BCE, during the reign of King Hezekiah of Judah. According to the biblical account, Sennacherib's army surrounded Jerusalem and threatened to destroy it, but Hezekiah prayed to God for help and God sent an angel to kill 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night. Sennacherib then withdrew his forces and returned to Assyria, where he was later assassinated by his own sons.
