Jackie Pullinger

Jackie Pullinger

Jackie Pullinger is a British Christian evangelist and author, known for her work among drug addicts and gang members in Hong Kong's infamous Walled City. Born on February 1944 in England, she grew up in a Christian family and felt called to missionary work at an early age.

After training as a nurse and a midwife, Pullinger felt a strong call to serve in Hong Kong. In 1966, she arrived in the city with no contacts or resources, but she had a strong faith in God and a determination to help the marginalized and the poor. She began working in the Walled City, an area known for its crime, poverty, and drug addiction.

Pullinger quickly realized that traditional methods of evangelism were not effective in the Walled City. Instead, she focused on building relationships with the people and meeting their physical needs, such as providing food and medical care. As she gained the trust of the community, she was able to share her faith and lead many to Christ.

Over the years, Pullinger founded several ministries in Hong Kong, including the St. Stephen's Society, which helps drug addicts recover and find employment, and the Dragon House, which provides a safe home for young people who are at risk of falling into a life of crime and drug addiction.

In addition to her work in Hong Kong, Pullinger has spoken at conferences and churches around the world, sharing her story of faith and ministry. She is the author of several books, including "Chasing the Dragon," which chronicles her early years in the Walled City, and "Crack in the Wall," which tells the stories of those whose lives have been transformed by her ministry.
