Menno Simons
Menno Simons was a Dutch Anabaptist leader and theologian who lived from 1496 to 1561. He was born in Witmarsum, a small village in the province of Friesland in the Netherlands. He was raised in the Roman Catholic Church, but later became a priest in the Dutch Reformed Church.
However, after encountering the teachings of the Anabaptist movement, Simons became convinced of the error of infant baptism and left the Dutch Reformed Church to become an Anabaptist himself. He soon became a leader in the movement and was highly respected for his teachings and leadership.
Simons was known for his peaceful and non-violent approach to Anabaptist beliefs and practices, and he wrote several influential works, including his "Foundation of Christian Doctrine." In these writings, he emphasized the importance of living a life in accordance with the teachings of Jesus and avoiding worldly pursuits and pleasures.
